Submarine Model Building For Beginners
by Frank Catamon
If you do not know anything about submarine modeling it can be very tricky to begin and not spent a lot of money. Before you start you must consider which type of submarine builder you are. There are two sorts of modeling builders: the radio control builder, also known as RC submarine builder and the more traditional builder. From the two the radio control submarine builder is more technical and less about the accuracy and details of the submarine which is more in style of the traditional submarine builder. This last one also likes the many little pieces and the precision to build it like it was. Traditional submarine building is more stress relieving and for the more relaxed person while radio control builders also like the thrill and action of their build submarine getting into the water. One other big difference between the two builders is the scale. RC builders need a bigger scale because of the batteries and other technical equipment it uses. Traditional builders love to make a accurate and historic detailed submarine from all the different pieces. You have submarine models scaled 1/750!
How To Start?
If you are going to start as traditional submarine model builder you can best begin with a submarine model kit that is simple. A mistake many model builders make is starting with a model that is just to difficult or to experienced for the level they are at. It is also good to know that just buying the submarine model is not everything, you also must consider to buy paint, cloths (to clean with), glue and other model building tools and equipment that make your model more accurate. Some low-cost traditional model submarines are the Bronco 1/350 Model HMS, Vanguard S28 Ssbn and the Chinese 039G Attack submarine also from Bronco scaled 1/350. There are of course dozens of other submarine models from different manufacturers to begin with but important is to have fun and enjoy yourself.
